Umag celebrates the opening of their tournament.
This evening, at the opening of the Konzum Croatia Open Umag, Goran Ivanišević, Andre Agassi and Juan Carlos Ferrero, the three athletes that have made tennis history, will play in a big exhibition match. It will be an opportunity to remind the fans of their days of fame and the on-court show they used to put on, and we are confident they will put on one today as well.
As of today, Umag’s ATP Stadium carries a new name, that of Goran Ivanišević. The renaming ceremony, which was attended by Goran Ivanišević and his family, marked the festive moment. The ceremony was also attended by Andre Agassi and Juan Carlos Ferrero, as well as Istraturist director and chairman of the tournament’s Organizing Committee Ronald Korotaj, and tournament director Lawrence Frankopan.
Interest in the exhibition match between Andre Agassi and Goran Ivanišević reached its peak two days before the official start of the tournament. One of the world’s best tennis players’ maiden visit to Croatia and his exhibition match against Ivanišević has caused such a thrill among tennis fans that the ATP Stadium has already been sold out. This spectacular sport-filled day has ended in an even more spectacular way. The Goran Ivanišević ATP Stadium was too small to fit all those who wanted to see the exhibition match between Croatia’s best tennis player of all times, and Andre Agassi, who had Juan Carlos Ferrero come to his aid since the American’s back injury prevented him from exerting himself.
