Baghdatis has withdrawn, in favor of participating in a tournament which will count toward his ranking. He has been sidelined for much of the last year and needs to build up his ranking.
Del Potro is plalying as alternate for Baghdatis. The eighth spot is being held for Roger Federer, the defending champion, who will confirm his participation (or not) after the first of the year.
